John Q. Trojanowski MD, PhD,
Dr. Trojanowski is the William Maul Measey-Truman G. Schnabel Jr. Professor of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Among his positions at the university, he is the co-director of the Center for Neurodegenerative Disease Research, director of the Institute on Aging, director of the Alzheimer’s Disease Core Center, and director of the Penn Udall Center for Parkinson’s Research. Dr. Trojanowski’s research focuses on Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, motor neuron disease, frontotemporal degeneration, and related disorders. He has received the Metropolitan Life Foundation Award, the Potamkin Prize, a Pioneer Award from the Alzheimer’s Association, the ISI Highly Cited Researcher award for being among the top five most cited neuroscientists from 1997 to 2007, the Irving Wright Award of the American Federation for Aging Research, and the Rous-Whipple Award of the American Society for Investigative Pathology. He was elected to the Institute of Medicine in 2002. Dr. Trojanowski previously served on the National Institute on Aging Advisory Council and currently serves on the board of the Alliance for Aging Research. He led the effort to prepare the 2009 PBS film, “Alzheimer’s Disease–Facing the Facts,” which won a CINE Golden Eagle Award for short documentary films.
