Dr. Koch is professor of pathology and co-director of the postdoctoral training program in clinical chemistry at Emory University in Atlanta. He also serves as the director of clinical chemistry, toxicology, and point-of-care testing at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. Dr. Koch has served as president of the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC). He served as secretary of the the Academy (formerly NACB) for four years and chaired the academy’s awards committee. He currently chairs the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) policy and external affairs core committee. He has served the ADLM in many other capacities both on the national level—including serving on the board of directors, on the nominating committee, on an annual meeting organizing committee, and as treasurer of the Critical Care Testing Division—as well as on the local level, chairing the Southeast Section and serving on the executive committee of the Chicago Section. He has served on many committees for the Clinical Laboratory and Standards Institute, European Federation of Laboratory Medicine, and Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists. Dr. Koch is a sought-after speaker on the evaluation of clinical laboratory methods, laboratory statistics, and quality control. He is the author of more than 50 articles, 12 book chapters, and over 60 abstracts and other publications. Among his many honors, Dr. Koch received the Outstanding Alumni Award from Purdue University, the Trans-Pacific Lectureship Award from the Chinese Society for Laboratory Medicine, and the Trans-Atlantic Lectureship Award from the Association of Clinical Biochemistry in the U.K.
