Nadia Ayala-Lopez, MLS (ASCP), PhD is a clinical chemistry fellow at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She received her B.S. in Clinical Laboratory Science from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and is a certified medical laboratory scientist. Her PhD is in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Michigan State University where she was awarded a NIH Pre-doctoral fellowship for her research on a rich adrenergic system in perivascular adipose tissue. Following her graduate training, she completed a NIH-postdoctoral fellowship in Laboratory Medicine at Yale University where she completed research projects on clinical chemistry biomarker utility and establishing reference intervals. Dr. Ayala-Lopez received the Daniel T. O’Conner Young Investigator Award from the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Toxicology (ASPET) and is twice the recipient of the Paul E. Strandjord Young Investigator Award from the Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists (ACLPS).
