Marcy I. Anderson, MS, MT(ASCP)

The CPOCT Division is proud to recognize Marcy I. Anderson for her contributions to the field of point-of-care testing and to the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) CPOCT Division.  Ms. Anderson has championed the cause of point-of-care coordinators through her work and volunteer efforts and has helped advance education and training opportunities for individuals in these positions.  She has personally lead efforts to establish several of the division’s signature programs including:

  • The POC Coordinators Forum launched in 2003
  • The free poster campaign, “Is the Lab in the Loop,” offered in 2008
  • The POC Specialist online Certificate Program launched in 2008

The POC Coordinators Forum which occurs during the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Annual Meeting each year provides an occasion for networking and education on best practices in POCT.  The POC Specialist online certificate program provides a comprehensive curriculum on standardized best practices in near patient testing.  Ms. Anderson co-chaired the efforts to design and implement this program with Dr. Barbara Goldsmith.  In its first year there were 345 enrollees and graduates were recognized during the CPOCT Division mixer and awards ceremony during the ADLM Annual Meeting.  Ms. Anderson served as Critical and Point-of-Care Testing Division chair in 2003.
