William E. Winter, MD is Professor of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine; Pediatrics; and Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Dr. Winter holds medical boards in Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology and Chemical Pathology. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (DABCC), a fellow of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry Academy (FAACC) and is a fellow of the College of American Pathologists (FCAP). Between 1993 and 2006 he served as Medical Director for clinical chemistry at Shands Hospital at the University Florida. In addition to his current duties as a staff clinical chemist, he is the laboratory director for three NIH trials: Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet study, TEDDY (The Environmental Determinants of Diabetes in Youth) study and the RADIANT (Rare and Atypical DIAbetes NeTwork) study.
