SYCL on AACC Artery
SYCL members share a special group on AACC Artery, the new online networking platform for sharing ideas, research, and best practices in a private social community accessible only to AACC members.
SYCL members produce brief podcasts based on their own experiences dealing with topics like negotiating contracts and making job transitions.
This podcast highlights mentor-mentee pairs, how they established and have maintained their relationships, and how mentorship has benefited their careers.
Early Career Guidance
SYCL members have assembled a wealth of resources for newly minted clinical laboratorians to thrive and advance professionally, including advice on looking for a job, publishing papers, and taking on management roles in the lab.
As a SYCL member, you can also post your resume and search for jobs at AACC’s Clin Lab Job Center.
Additionally, members can get career inspiration from the Mentor of the Month Archive. From 2005 to 2013, this series interviewed prominent laboratorians every month on how their career paths have evolved and advice they would give to young professionals in the field.
Trainees who are studying for an American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC) certification exam or looking for or starting a post-doctoral fellowship can check out SYCL’s resources for advice on how to prepare for these milestones.
If you’re wondering what a career in laboratory medicine will entail, SYCL members have also put together videos and comprehensive Q&As answering questions about the field and the different career paths that it offers.

The SYCL Forum also enables members to exchange ideas and collaborate with colleagues online.
Awards and Recognition Opportunities
SYCL provides grants and awards to help members attend the annual meeting and to recognize members who have made exceptional contributions to the field of laboratory medicine through service to AACC.
Through SYCL Citings, the society also brings much-deserved attention to the work of members who have been published in Clinical Chemistry.
SYCL Seminar Series
If you're interested in raising awareness about laboratory medicine with other young scientists, the SYCL Seminar Series can send you back to your graduate school to encourage the next generation of scientists to explore the possibility of a career in it.
