The Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) offers a number of awards for SYCL members. Any active SYCL member (ADLM members under the age of 40 or trainee members) may apply. Please read each award description to learn more about eligibility requirements.

Award: SYCL Travel Grants and Awards
Recognizes: ADLM helps SYCL members in the U.S. and Canada to participate in the ADLM Annual Meeting with SYCL Domestic Travel Grants and Annual Meeting Impact Awards.
Funding: SYCL Travel Grant and Award winners receive funding ranging from $500 to $2,000, and complimentary registration to the ADLM Annual Meeting.

Award: SYCL Service Award
Recognizes: Recognizes an SYCL member who has demonstrated exceptional contributions to the field of laboratory medicine through service to ADLM.
Funding: The award recipient will be recognized and given an honorary plaque at the SYCL Reception at the ADLM Annual Meeting.

Award: SYCL Mentorship Award
Recognizes: Recognizes an ADLM member who has shown outstanding mentorship to SYCL members.
Funding: The award recipient will be recognized and given an honorary plaque at the SYCL Reception at the ADLM Annual Meeting.

Award: Student Research Awards
Recognizes: ADLM holds a research awards contest at the ADLM Annual Meeting for students and post-doctoral fellows who are presenting authors of accepted abstracts. Prior to the Annual Meeting, the students' abstracts are judged, and the four individuals with the top four ranked abstracts are invited to compete in the Student Oral Presentation Contest. Judges evaluate the oral presentations on scientific quality as well as the organization and quality of the presentation and accompanying slides. The remaining students compete in the Student Poster Contest, in which judges evaluate each poster on scientific quality, clarity of display, and presentation style.
Funding: Oral presentation awards consist of the following cash awards: first prize $1,000; second prize $500; and two honorable mention prizes at $250 each. Poster presentation awards consist of the following cash awards: first prize first prize $500; second prize $250; and two honorable mention prizes at $125 each.

- Award: Outstanding Scientific Achievements by a Young Investigator
Recognizes: This award recognizes and encourages the professional development of a young investigator who has demonstrated exceptional scientific achievements early in his or her career. It is given based on the degree of originality exhibited in the individual's creative process and the significance of the research conducted. It is conferred upon an individual who has the potential to be an outstanding investigator of the future.
Funding: The award consists of a plaque and a $1,000 cash award.

Award: George Grannis Award for Excellence in Research and Scientific Publication
Recognizes: All current and past students in undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral laboratory medicine training programs who were enrolled sometime during the three-year period prior to the year of the award will be considered candidates for this award. The student must have published a paper indexed in Index Medicus during this same time period. Names of students from ComACC-accredited programs may be submitted by the program director. Names of students from non-ComACC-accredited programs may be submitted by their mentors. ComACC will make nominations to the the Academy Awards Committee based on a review of published papers. The Academy Awards Committee will select the awardee based on the most outstanding published scientific paper.
Funding: This award consists of a plaque and a honorarium.

Award: Animal Clinical Chemistry Awards
Recognizes: The ADLM Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry (DACC) Executive and Award Committees has established a Travel Award in recognition of outstanding research in the area of animal laboratory medicine for an abstract accepted and poster presented at the ADLM annual meeting. The DACC Travel Award is for the presenter of the best abstract and poster presented by DACC members, associates or trainees (in academia or industry) in multispecies clinical pathology, in the area of animal laboratory medicine that has been accepted and presented at the ADLM Annual Meeting. Up to two posters and abstracts may be selected each year for this award based on merit and recommendation of the Abstract Review Committee.
Funding: This award consists of a certificate of merit, $500 cash award and travel reimbursement up to $1000

Award: Best Annual Meeting Abstract Award
Recognizes: Given in recognition of outstanding research in the areas of critical and point of care testing for abstract submitted and poster presented at the ADLM annual meeting. Abstracts are selected by the CPOCT Awards Committee from the accepted abstracts submitted to the ADLM Annual Meeting Organizing Committee.
Funding: This award consists of a $500 Cash Award

Award: Critical and Point-Of Care Testing Research
Recognizes: The ADLM’s Access Program Point-of-Care Testing Research Grant, supported by the Critical and Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) Division, is to study POCT outcomes. This grant is targeted to clinical laboratorians who need limited research funds to explore new ideas in areas where funds are not normally available.
Funding: This award consists of a $5,000 Cash grant

Recognizes: This award is given to acknowledge work that makes a significant contribution to the IVD Industry in one of the following areas: management, regulatory or improved patient care through a new or improved medical device (i.e., diagnostic method, reagent system, or other). The abstract should be of interest to a significant portion of the IVD Industry.

Award: The Young Investigator's Award
Recognizes: The TDM/T Division of the ADLM sponsors an annual award designed to recognize young persons actively engaged in the laboratory practice of therapeutic drug monitoring or toxicology and contributing to the profession through research, publication, or teaching in these fields. The nominee must be a member of the TDM/T Division and must be 40 years of age or less, or in the first 10 years of their career after training (defined as completion of highest degree attained at time of application or completion of related fellowship).
Funding: The award will consist of a plaque and a $1,000 cash award.
