On March 18th, an AACC-led coalition of 20 professional societies, clinical laboratories, and manufacturers sent a letter to the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Related Agencies advocating to increase funding in the fiscal year(FY) 2023 budget for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention‘s (CDC) program to harmonize clinical laboratory test results.

AACC has been at the forefront of harmonization efforts, working to build and sustain legislative support for the issue by conducting congressional briefings, grassroots advocacy campaigns, and engaging key congressional offices. AACC and its partners’ efforts have yielded $2 million annually for harmonizing test results since FY 2018. AACC and its partners in the healthcare community will continue working with congressional allies to advocate for additional funding for the initiative.
