Building on the success of its first two products, Thyroid Disorders and Acid Base Disorders, the Association of Clinical Biochemists presents Protein Cases, written by a group of clinical biochemists and their medical colleagues from Leeds and London. This CD presents two main clinical cases and ten short topics, based on a format of simulated patient encounters that emphasizes the use and role of laboratory investigations in diagnosis and treatment. Consequences of wrong diagnosis and management are demonstrated. The programs are interactive with questions posed throughout the cases and a cumulative assessment score is available on demand. A comprehensive reference section contains material on laboratory tests and clinical conditions. It can be accessed and searched either directly or via "hot words" within the clinical cases. These clinical cases support the educational needs of undergraduates, postgraduates, and Continuing Professional Development/Continuing Medical education. The minimum hardware requirements are Pentium PC; 16Mb RAM; 3Mb hard disc space, color 800x600 monitor; Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 supplied.
