Niklas Rye Jørgensen

Prof. Niklas Rye JørgensenProfessor Niklas Rye Jørgensen, MD, PhD, DMSc completed his studies in Medicine at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1992 and was awarded his PhD in 2000 and his Doctor of Medical Sciences in 2005, both at the University of Copenhagen. He became specialist of laboratory medicine in 2009. He is head of Section of Clinical Biochemistry at Copenhagen University Hospital Rigshospitalet Glostrup and professor at the University of Copenhagen. He is a member of the Danish Society for Clinical Biochemistry (DSKB), Danish Bone Society, Committee of Scientific Advisors for the International Osteoporosis Foundation, the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research, the European Calcified Tissue Society, corresponding member of the IFCC Committee on Bone Metabolism.

Niklas Rye Jørgensen’s research interests include the clinical application of bone markers in bone disease and basic and translational bone biology with special focus on pathophysiological mechanisms of bone disease related to systemic diseases e.g. cancer and diabetes.
