Kayode Balogun

Kayode BalogunKayode Balogun, PhD, DABCC, FADLM, is an Associate Director of Clinical Chemistry and Immunology at Montefiore Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Pathology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He completed his clinical chemistry fellowship at the Department of Pathology, University of Utah School of Medicine, and ARUP Laboratories. He received his master’s degree in biomedical science from the University of East London, UK, and completed his doctoral training at the Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. Dr. Balogun was a CIHR-CTN postdoctoral fellow at the Toronto General Hospital Research Institute, University Health Network, Canada. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry, a Fellow of the ADLM Academy, and a Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Science (UK). Dr. Balogun engages in research that centers around maternal and infant health in the context of infectious diseases and the associated biochemical changes resulting from infection and pharmacotherapy. He is particularly focused on understanding how these alterations in chemistry impact disease trajectories and on identifying disease biomarkers that can facilitate safe medical interventions, especially in key populations.
