Doug Dix received a Ph.D. in biochemistry from SUNY Buffalo in 1971. He worked as a postdoctoral scientist in cancer research for the next five years at Roswell Park Memorial Institute and Yale University, and then became Director of the Haynes Medical Laboratory. In 1979 he joined the University of Hartford, where he is Professor of Biology and Medical Technology. He has been a member of the AACC since 1976, and a Diplomat of the ABCC since 1980, with specialty certification in molecular diagnostics since 2003. His current research has two themes: 1) objective criteria for health care assistance to developing nations, and 2) effective placebo therapy for terminal cancer patients.
