Thermo Fisher has been granted the CE mark for its molecular diagnostics platform, the QuantStudio 5 Dx Real-Time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) system. Designed to address performance gaps in older quantitative PCR instruments, the QuantStudio system includes multi-modal software that enables laboratories to use it for test development and research as well as for clinical diagnosis. Thermo Fisher collaborated with Siemens Healthineers to develop the system, and the two companies have agreed to incorporate it into Siemens’ automated Atellica MDX 160 Molecular system. Thermo Fisher is now seeking Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance for the QuantStudio 5 system and has also partnered with Seegene to seek FDA clearance for Seegene’s Allplex diagnostic assay portfolio for use on the QuantStudio 5.
