The practice of clinical laboratory medicine requires application of book learning and experience to the acquisition/interpretation of additional relevant information about the patient's status and past test results, in a team-oriented environment to devise the best plans for patient management. This can be especially daunting and difficult when there are multiple pathologies and stakeholders involved. This session will illustrate how to communicate and collaborate with clinicians to determine the best plan for accurate and timely testing for optimal treatment. The case studies selected will illustrate appropriate communication strategies in a range of clinical laboratory medicine and practice settings. The intended outcome is improved confidence for more effective collaborations.
