Description

Sepsis is a common, costly, and deadly condition among hospital patients. Join AACC and ThermoFisher on December 14 for a conversation on how timely intervention is critical to outcomes, yet early identification of sepsis can be challenging. Procalcitonin (PCT) is a biomarker that is playing an increasingly important role in helping clinicians identify patients at risk for developing sepsis, severe sepsis and septic shock, and aiding in managing their therapy.

In this webinar, Dr. Stefan Riedel, Associate Professor of Pathology at Harvard Medical School and Associate Medical Director, Clinical Microbiology Laboratories at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center will discuss the clinical use of biomarkers, including PCT, in managing bacterial infections and sepsis.

This webinar will enable you to:

  • Describe the role of the clinical laboratories in the diagnosis and management of sepsis and infections.
  • Describe the biology and kinetics of Procalcitonin and other biomarkers used in the management of sepsis.
  • Describe the role of biomarkers and other rapid tests in the management of sepsis and their ability to predict clinical outcome.
