This lecture will summarize key findings from the 2015 report from the Institutes of Medicine Committee of Diagnostic Error. It will explore instances of diagnostic errors in medicine, their importance, and how errors in test requesting and result interpretation can be prevented. Specific cases of error will be presented, with an emphasis on creating a collaborative approach to diagnosis in order to prevent medical error. A Question and Answer session with the speaker will follow.
