William Winter and Patricia M. Jones

William Winter, MD, DABCC, FACB

A native of San Francisco, Dr. Winter attended Santa Clara University as an undergraduate. After medical school at Loyola University in Chicago, Dr. Winter trained in pediatrics at the University of Kentucky. He then trained in pediatric endocrinology at the University of Florida under Arlan Rosenbloom and Noel Maclaren. Currently Dr. Winter is a professor of pathology and pediatrics at the University of Florida. His duties include serving as a clinical chemist for Shands Hospital and directing the 2nd year medical student pathology course. As an NIH-funded investigator, he is principle investigator for the Type 1 Diabetes TrialNet Islet Cell Autoantibody Core Laboratory.


Patricia M. Jones, PhD, DABCC, FACB
Children’s Medical Center, Dallas, TX

Patricia M. (Patti) Jones is currently the Clinical Director of the Chemistry and Metabolic Disease Labs at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, TX, and an Associate Professor of Pathology and Medical Laboratory Science at UT Southwestern Medical Center. In addition, Patti teaches in the Medical Laboratory Sciences Program at UT Southwestern and helps train residents and fellows in chemistry and metabolic diseases. Patti has been a member of the AACC since 1986, and has been actively involved for many years. She is the current Chair-elect of the Texas Section and serves on the Pediatric Reference Range Committee and the Professional Practice in Clinical Chemistry Review Course Organizing Committee. She is also on the Board of Directors of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (NACB). Other memberships include the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) and the Association of Clinical Biochemists (ACB).
