Abstract Information

28th AACC International CPOCT Symposium


This signature AACC meeting will look at practical and promising applications of point-of-care testing for clinical decision making.

Submission Deadline: June 10, 2020

Acceptance Notification: July 22, 2020

Conference Dates: September 30–October 2, 2020

Abstracts are invited in the following categories:

  • Direct-to-consumer testing
  • New and emerging technologies
  • Outcome based POCT testing in various healthcare settings
  • POCT and molecular diagnostics, microbiology, and toxicology
  • POCT for emergency preparedness and resource limited settings
  • POCT for infectious disease, chronic and acute disease management
  • Practical applications of POCT: Data driven solutions for improved outcomes

How to Submit: 

Please note: All abstracts must be submitted using the online form

The following information is required to submit your abstract:

  • Contact information for the presenting author (Name, address, phone number, email address)
  • Abstract title
  • Session category—based on the list above
  • One-page abstract—following the specifications below
  • (Optional) One-page document with chart or graph (if submitting as separate attachment)

Abstract Format Specifications:

For your abstract to be considered, it must follow the following formatting guidelines:

  • File format: Microsoft Word document
  • Title of abstract—at top of page, in bold text
  • Name(s), affiliation(s), and address(es) of all authors, with the name of the presenting author underlined
  • The following section headers:
    • Introduction
    • Materials/Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusions
  • One page, single spaced, with one-inch margins (top, bottom, and both sides)
  • Font: Arial, 10 point
  • Word Limit:
    • Text only abstracts: 500 words
    • Abstracts containing one figure (graph, chart, or table): 300 words
      • Note: the figure may be embedded in the abstract document or submitted as a separate attachment

Review Criteria:

Submitted abstracts will be reviewed based on the following attributes:

  • scientific value/content
  • originality/novelty
  • quality/clarity of writing

Authors whose abstracts are accepted will be notified by July 22, 2020

Travel Grant Award for Top Two Abstracts:

The top two abstracts* will each be awarded a travel grant of $500, one complimentary conference registration and the opportunity to give an oral presentation (see below). One of the listed authors must attend the meeting to give the oral presentation and receive the award.

Selected Oral Presentations:

Up to four abstracts* (including the two travel grant award winners) will be selected to deliver an oral presentation* during the symposium. The best oral presentation will be recognized at the meeting.

Poster Session:

Authors of accepted abstracts will be invited to display their abstracts as posters throughout the symposium with dedicated viewing times. To display your poster, you must register for the symposium.

* If you wish to be considered for an oral presentation slot and/or the travel grant award, you must indicate that on the application form by answering "Yes" to the last question.
