Student Research Awards

AACC’s Student Research Award competition is held on the Monday afternoon of AACC’s Annual Scientific Meeting. The competition is intended for students, trainees, and postdoctoral fellows who are presenting authors of accepted poster abstracts for the Annual Scientific Meeting. Questions about the Student Research Awards program may be sent to education@aacc.org.

All in-training and postdoctoral fellows are eligible for the competition. Poster abstract submission is required. Submitters must also indicate they wish to be considered in their poster abstract submission. Following poster abstract submission, abstracts are judged based on scientific value, originality, and quality. Competitors may enter one of two separate competitions.

  • Student Oral Presentation Competition. The top four ranked poster abstracts are invited to compete in an oral presentation of their poster abstract. Competitors will have 10 minutes to present and up to 5 minutes for audience Q&A in a session. Judges evaluate the presentations to select winners for 1st prize ($1000), 2nd ($500), 3rd ($250), and 4th ($250).
  • Student Poster Competition. The remaining submitters enter the poster competition during the poster networking reception where each poster will be visited by three judges. Please note that oral presenters may also present their poster but will not be judged. Judges evaluate poster competitors on scientific quality, clarity, and poster presentation to select winners for 1st prize ($500), 2nd ($250), 3rd ($125), and 4th ($125).
