WASHINGTON – AACC is pleased to announce that Stephen Poston has assumed the newly-created position of chief information officer (CIO) for the association, effective today. Prior to joining AACC, Poston served as director of information technology and office services at the Endocrine Society, an organization representing more than 18,000 scientists and clinicians. At the Endocrine Society, Poston directed multiple high-impact IT projects including a major undertaking to enhance the value of membership by replacing the Society’s association management system software.
In his role at AACC, Poston will serve on the executive management team to lead all IT and Web initiatives, ensuring technology expertise is integrated into decision-making processes essential to achieving the association’s key priorities. These include delivering high value education and knowledge resources to the laboratory medicine professionals who make up AACC’s membership, as well as driving science and innovation in laboratory medicine and advancing best practices in the field worldwide.
“AACC’s educational offerings, publications, and advocacy initiatives enable its members to adapt to the changing healthcare environment and find answers to challenging patient health problems,” said AACC CEO Janet B. Kreizman. “Because nearly all of these initiatives include a technology component, strategic IT expertise has become increasingly important to their delivery. Steve’s years of experience aligning technology with critical organizational goals ensure that he will contribute valuable technological direction to AACC programs.”

BACKGROUND ON STEPHEN POSTON
Poston has 26 years of experience working in IT. Prior to joining the Endocrine Society in 2010, he served as project technical lead and consulting engineer with Hewlett Packard Enterprise Services and as director of information technology and facilities services at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores.
Poston holds a Master of Science in information technology from the University of Phoenix, Phoenix, Arizona, and earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia. Additionally, he is a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
