Protect Patient Health—Oppose the VALID Act This Session

Supporters of the Verifying Accurate Leading-edge IVCT Development (VALID) Act (H.R.4128 / S.2209) are seeking to extend Food and Drug Administration (FDA) oversight to laboratory developed tests (LDTs) by including the bill in a legislative package by the end of this session of Congress.

AACC, along with nearly 150 other health organizations, urges you to oppose VALID. LDTs are offered safely and effectively in highly regulated laboratories across the country. If enacted, VALID will have significant unintended consequences on the ability of hospitals and community laboratories to provide these tests, which are needed by clinicians to care for their patients.

Help prevent potentially devastating consequences for patients—don't rush this defective legislation that needs time for critical input and modification.
