Immunoassays are the work horses of clinical labs. Using antibodies for diagnostic measurements provides high specificity and sensitivity. Despite all the successful uses of immunoassays, there are still problems with the interferences. In this session, the speakers will review how common immunoassay formats work, how the different types of interference mechanisms cause falsely elevated and suppressed results for each assay format, how these interferences impact patient care and outcomes, and how current strategies are used to trouble shoot interference.
