DACC Travel Award

Award for Outstanding Contributions to Animal Clinical Chemistry
The Award was created to recognize the outstanding achievements of an individual who has made significant contributions in the field of animal clinical chemistry in its broadest sense including teaching, training, practicing and research. Activities and achievements of this person, which have significantly benefited the science and advancement as well as enhanced the public awareness and understanding of this discipline, are also taken into consideration.

Nominations may be submitted by an AACC member or group of members such as division, local section, committee or commission. Nominations will also be considered from non member individuals and organizations. The submission should consist of a statement of the nominee’s accomplishments and a current curriculum vitae and bibliography. At least two seconding letters of support from colleagues detailing the candidate’s accomplishments not given in the primary letter of nomination should be included. Nominations must indicate the specific accomplishment(s) that justifies the award. Submit with supporting documents and no more than 3 letters of support to the Division Awards Committee by letter, FAX, or e-mail. The award consists of a plaque and a cash honorarium of $2000, and is traditionally presented at the DACC annual meeting reception or annual business meeting.

The Royden N. Rand Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry Past-Chair’s Award 
This named award honors the service of the Past-Chair and pays tribute to the memory of Dr. R.N Rand, the President of the AACC who initially sanctioned the formation of the original ad hoc Laboratory Animal Clinical Analysis Group in 1976. This award is given every other year to the DACC’s immediate Past–Chair to honor his or her contributions to the field of animal clinical laboratory science throughout his or her career and to acknowledge the recipient's many contributions to the Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry. Each Chair has sacrificed their time to promote and provide education in the area of Animal Clinical Chemistry, foster communication and networking among division members as per the Division mission. Must have completed, or be during the last year of, the past-chair term of office.

The award is presented at the Fall meeting prior to the Past-Chair’s end of term, or at the installation of the new Officer(s), and consists of a plaque and honorarium to support the Past-Chair’s travel to the Fall Meeting.

DACC Certificate of Recognition
Recognition Award for Meritorious Contributions to the DACC 
In Honor of Meritorious Service, Dedication, and Contributions to the AACC Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry (DACC) for Enhancing and Advancing the Practice and Profession of Animal Clinical Laboratory Medicine.

Nominations may be submitted by any DACC member or group of members. This recognition is not necessarily an annual award, but is discretionary for recognizing certain person(s) who stand out in their service, educational effort, and other attributes which have contributed to the growth and development of the organization and profession. Submit to DACC Awards Committee Chair a letter citing information supporting the nomination. Candidates should be, or have been, associated with the Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry.

The award consists of a framed certificate, and may be presented at the Executive Committee’s discretion as to time and venue, e.g. Spring, Annual or Fall meeting(s).

DACC Travel Award
Recognition Award for Best Animal Division Poster at AACC Annual Meeting 
The AACC Division of Animal Clinical Chemistry (DACC) Executive and Award Committees have established a Travel Award to be given in recognition of outstanding research in the area of animal clinical laboratory medicine for an abstract accepted and poster presented at the AACC annual meeting. The DACC Travel Award is for the presenter of the best abstract & poster presented by DACC members, associates or trainees (in academia or industry) in multispecies clinical pathology, in the area of Animal Clinical Laboratory Medicine that has been accepted and presented at the AACC Annual Meeting. Up to two posters & abstracts may be selected each year for this award based on merit and recommendation of the Abstract Review Committee.

This award will consist of a certificate of scientific merit, a $500.00 monetary cash award and travel reimbursement (up to $1000) to support the awardee’s expenses to attend (registration fee waived) the DACC Fall Meeting. The award abstract and accompanying poster will be displayed at the DACC Fall Meeting.

The award abstracts and accompanying poster(s) will be selected by an Abstract Review Committee sanctioned (appointed) by the DACC Executive and Awards Committees. Abstracts must be submitted to the DACC Award Committee before April 15th of each year to be considered for these travel awards by the DACC Executive Committee. Candidate abstract submissions will then be distributed to the Selection Committee for determining awardees to be recommended to the Executive Committee. The awards will be announced either at the Animal Clinical Chemistry Division’s general membership business meeting or immediately following the AACC Annual meeting, and will be presented at the DACC Fall Meeting.
