Elizabeth Anne Terry is part of a two person POCT team that manages 1500 POCT users at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Oakland, California. The POCT program encompasses a 349-bed, state-of-the-art hospital and 6 medical office buildings. Betty is a native of Pennsylvania, raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, received a BA in Bacteriology from the University of California, Berkeley and completed the Curriculum in Medical Technology from University of California, San Francisco. During the course of her career Betty has worked in all shifts and all areas of the clinical lab.

The POCT program at KP medical center includes both waived and non-waived testing for PPMP, chemistries, blood gas, whole blood glucose meters, urine pregnancy tests, urine dipstick, occult blood, visual pH, co-oximetry, whole blood clotting times. During the recent Ebola crisis, Point of Care Testing was part of the integrated response and preparedness at the Oakland Medical center.

Betty enjoys interaction with physicians, nurses and medical assistants in the Oakland Medical center as well as the being an active member of the Kaiser Northern California Point of Care Coordinators Peer Group.
