1967 Outstanding Contributions to Clinical Chemistry
Dr. Richard J. Henry, Director of Bio-Science Laboratories, Los Angeles, Calif., received the annual Ames Award at the 19th National meeting of the American Association of Clinical Chemists at the Marriott Motor Hotel, Philadelphia.
The Ames Award is one of the highest honors conferred on a clinical chemist by the national organization. Dr. Henry, a native of Harrisburg, Pa., and a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, has been director of the Bio-Science Laboratories since 1948.
During the last 19 years, he has published nearly 60 scientific papers, and an outstanding textbook, Clinical Chemistry—Principles and Technics. He served as president of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) in 1963–1964 and is currently chairman of the American Chemical Societies’ Committee of Clinical Chemistry.
Dr. Henry was one of five scientists selected for special awards by AACC. The five awardees were honored at the Association’s Annual Banquet.
