2003 Outstanding Contributions in Education

Paul Wolf, MD, is professor of clinical pathology at the University of California, San Diego, where he has served since 1974 with a major emphasis on teaching clinical chemistry and hematopathology.

He has been director of clinical laboratories at various academic medical centers, including Stanford University.

Dr. Wolf’s main professional achievement has been the teaching of clinical chemistry and hematopathology to medical students, clinical chemists, medical technologists, and pathology residents, with an emphasis on a broad perspective of the disease process with respect to clinical laboratory data. He has received many teaching awards from the senior medical students and faulty at Stanford University and the University of California, San Diego.

An AACC member for more than 30 years, he has given numerous workshops and roundtables at AACC annual meetings and at foreign clinical chemistry conferences.

He also has received numerous national outstanding speaker awards from AACC, as well as the outstanding speaker award from the Southern California Section in 1997.
