2014 George Grannis Award for Excellence in Research and Scientific Publication
Dr. Drabovich is a postdoctoral fellow at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital and the department of laboratory medicine and pathobiology at the University of Toronto in Canada. He received his PhD in bioanalytical chemistry at York University. His thesis focused on the application of kinetic capillary electrophoresis to selection of aptamers and affinity analysis of proteins. His work with the group of Eleftherios Diamandis focuses on quantitative mass spectrometry and clinical proteomics. Supported by fellowships from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, he is devoting his expertise in protein analysis to discovery of biomarkers of urological diseases. His current research interests include development of non-invasive diagnostics of male infertility, prostate cancer, and prostate inflammation. In the area of basic research, he is interested in the application of quantitative proteomics to reproductive biology and steroid hormone regulation in mammalian cells. Dr. Drabovich has authored or co-authored 26 peer-reviewed publications. He received the Young Gun Early Career Investigator Award from the Human Proteome Organization, young investigator travel awards from the Association for Mass Spectrometry, and several other honors.
