The Molecular Pathology Division encourages everyone who is submitting an abstract in the field of Molecular Pathology/Pharmacogenomics to apply for the appropriate awards listed below. Topics submitted that are not relevant to Molecular Pathology/Pharmacogenomics will not be considered.
The Science and Education Committee (SEC) of MPD will select several finalists in each category from received applications, and invite them to make an oral presentation of their posters on the first day of the annual meeting (usually Monday). Any finalist (first author) who does not respond to the invitation by a specified deadline, or is not able to show up for their presentation will be automatically disqualified from further consideration—substitution is not allowed. The SEC will judge each presentation and make a final selection of a winner in each category following the oral presentation. The SEC reserves the right to NOT issue an award in any category, if any respective finalist does not meet the quality and scientific merits of each individual award. There will be no appeal and the SEC’s decision is final.
A. Molecular Pathology Division Abstract Award for Outstanding Research in Molecular Pathology or Pharmacogenomics
$1000 grant for MPD member (nonmember, $700). Previous winners are not eligible to win for 3 consecutive years. Several finalists will be chosen in each category and they must present their findings before the Division Science and Education Committee, which will choose a winner at the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) meeting. The award will be announced at the Division meeting during the Annual Meeting. To compete for this award you must:
- Submit an abstract in the field of molecular pathology or pharmacogenomics
- Be the presenting author of an accepted abstract for the upcoming the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Annual Meeting
B. Molecular Pathology Division Young Investigator Abstract Award for Outstanding Research in Molecular Pathology or Pharmacogenomics
$750 grant for MPD member (nonmember, $525). Previous winners are not eligible to win for 3 consecutive years. Several finalists will be chosen in each category and they must present their findings before the Division Science and Education Committee, which will choose a winner at the ADLM meeting. The award will be announced at the Division meeting during the Annual Meeting. To compete for this award you must:
- Be 39 years of age or younger.
- Submit an abstract in the field of molecular pathology or pharmacogenomics
- Be the presenting author of an accepted abstract for the upcoming ADLM Annual Meeting
C. Molecular Pathology Division Student/Medical Technologist Abstract Award for Outstanding Research in Molecular Pathology or Pharmacogenomics
$500 grant for ADLM member (nonmember, $350). Previous winners are not eligible to win for 3 consecutive years. Several finalists will be chosen in each category and they must present their findings before the Division Science and Education Committee, which will choose a winner at the ADLM meeting. The award will be announced at the Division meeting during the Annual Meeting. To compete for this award you must:
- Be a student or medical technologist in a clinical laboratory science program
- Submit an abstract in the field of molecular pathology or pharmacogenomics
- Be the presenting author of an accepted abstract for the upcoming ADLM Annual Meeting
