A session at AACC’s upcoming Lab Solutions Summit in mid-September will prep laboratorians on the best practices for following up on test results.

“Strategies and Solutions for Following Up on Test Results” takes place Sept. 16, the first day of the 2-day virtual Lab Solutions Summit, which encourages labs to shift their focus from cost and efficiency to improving patient outcomes.

Speaker Anuj K. Dalal, MD, an associate physician at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, plans to discuss:

1. The use of clinical information systems to follow up on results, improve processes, and increase the effectiveness of care, and

2. Designing good test result follow-up processes and using information technology to reduce harm caused by missing results.

Lab Solutions Summit features an expert faculty, interactive poster sessions and vendor exhibits and is worth 11.5 ACCENT continuing education credits. Specifically, this virtual conference will highlight stories and projects from laboratorians who have adopted cost-effective analyses, processes, and testing strategies that have led to improved patient care.

“Speakers at the conference will give the background on why the shift from volume to value is taking place, and they’ll describe current initiatives helping laboratorians to increase the value of what they do every day. Lab Solutions Summit attendees also will learn how to evaluate new tests and design outcome studies with built-in added-value metrics, to develop the evidence base that supports the vital role of laboratory medicine,” Lab Solutions Summit Chair Michael J. Hallworth, FRCP, explained to CLN Stat.
