High resolution melting of DNA is a new analytical tool for genotyping, and sequencing remains the gold standard. Both methods offer laboratories ways to improve the specificity of current PCR methods. After reviewing the current state of the art, the instructors will provide a CD for ?Melting Wizard? (academic melting analysis software) and will take a look at publicly available WEB tools for the design and analysis of DNA melting. Finally, the faculty will compare melting methods and sequencing for complete gene analysis of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) variants. Please note--Attendees should bring a laptop computer with a wireless interface to the short course for hands-on data analysis training.
