Laboratories provide a wealth of information essential for patient care, regulatory compliance, and quality management. This laboratory information is often dispersed across different document formats and locations making use and retrieval challenging. This session will demonstrate strategies and practical examples of the use of software to automate procedure and policy management and facilitate effective quality improvement, utilization, and data analytics. This presentation will describe approaches and practical examples of how laboratories can take advantage of open source software to make procedure, policy, and laboratory manual creation and updates manageable. It will also describe how effective information management can enable research, analysis, test utilization, quality management, and sharing of information with external users through websites and automated reports.
