This webcast originally aired as a live webinar co-sponsored by AACC and the AACC Biomarkers of Acute Cardiovascular Diseases Division on November 19, 2014. Recent studies indicate that examining the absolute change in hs-cTn concentration by comparing baseline hs-cTn values to hs-cTn concentrations from samples drawn an hour later can provide information that could help clinicians rule-out AMI in a significant number of patients, as well as rule-in AMI in others. Cardiac researcher, Tobias Reichlin, discusses what the "new" algorithm for rapid rule-out of AMI is, how to use it and where new cardiac biomarker research is taking the laboratory diagnosis of AMI in the future.
