This is a recorded version of the AACC webinar Biomarkers for CKD: Urine Albumin and Multi-markers which was originally held August 14, 2012. Urine albumin is now widely used to identify and monitor patients with kidney damage or disease, but measuring this chronic kidney disease (CKD) biomarker presents some challenges for the lab. Considerable intermethod differences have been reported for urine albumin measurement, and there are still many issues that must be addressed to enable standardization of measurements and establish clinical practice guidelines based on urine albumin excretion. During this program, Dr. Miller explains how urine collection influences urine albumin results, why there is variability among different measurement procedures for urine albumin, and what is being done to correct the situation.
