Complex clinical problems usually require a spectrum of laboratory investigations, initially to aid diagnosis and subsequently to monitor disease and treatment. This book provides a practical guide to the investigation of biochemical disorders with a focus on the major metabolic disorders. The book has two major sections; one containing algorithms for investigation of specific abnormalities and the other protocols for the investigative tests included in the first part. For each disorder succinct background information and a few key references and/or web addresses are provided. The book is spiral bound enabling it to lay flat when open for ease of reference. The book will be of benefit to laboratory staff and physicians involved in the provision of pre- and post-analytical advice for the investigation of metabolic disorders.
