Dr. Parl is Professor of Pathology and Director of Clinical Chemistry at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, TN. He received an M.D. from the University of Göttingen in Germany and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from New York Medical College, New York. His research interests are in breast cancer, molecular genetics, estrogens and estrogen receptors. He has published extensively in these areas, holds patents related to his work, and received the Shannon Award from the National Cancer Institute. As director of the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory, Dr. Parl oversees a staff of more than 60 laboratory professionals performing approximately 2800 tests per day in acute care, routine, and specialized chemistry testing.
