Amit Meller

Amit MellerAmit Meller, PhD, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, Roy Matas Winnipeg Chair in Biomedical Engineering, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology.

Dr. Meller is a biophysicist and bioengineer developing materials for single-molecule biosensors as well as sensing methodologies to address fundamental biological processes and clinical needs. Since 2000 Prof. Meller’s lab contributed to the development of nanopore-based DNA sequencing and made key discoveries for the method’s transformation from a theoretical concept to a working technology. Meller’s lab also contributed to the field of nano-fluidics and high-resolution microscopy of biological specimen. Dr. Meller received his Ph.D. in Physics (1997) at the Weizmann Institute of Science and was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology at Harvard University.
