When and where will the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo be held?

In 2017, the event will be at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA.

The Annual Scientific Meeting will take place on July 30–August 3 and the Clinical Lab Expo will take place on August 1–3.

What is the difference between the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting conference and the Clinical Lab Expo?

The AACC Annual Scientific Meeting includes hundreds of educational sessions on a wide variety of topics.

The Clinical Lab Expo is the exhibit tradeshow of the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting. The Clinical Lab Expo will host more than 750 exhibitors in all areas of clinical laboratory science.

Can I volunteer at the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting?

For the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting, AACC will no longer use member volunteers to monitor sessions. AACC would like to thank everyone who has volunteered in the past, and encourages former volunteers to register for the meeting.

FEES AND REGISTRATION

How much does it cost to attend the Clinical Lab Expo by itself (Expo Only registration)?

$20 if we receive your registration by June 15.

$40 if we receive your registration after June 15.

How much does it cost to attend the educational sessions of the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting conference?

My AACC membership has expired or will expire before the end of the meeting. Do I need to renew it before registering for the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting?

The meeting is open to both AACC members and non-members. AACC members can save at least $280 on registration, so if you are an expired or non-member, we encourage you to renew or join during the online registration process.

Please also note that—NEW THIS YEAR—your AACC membership must be valid through the last day of the meeting (August 3, 2017) to be eligible for the discounted member registration fees. You may renew your membership when you register. Your renewed membership will be valid for one year from the date your payment is processed, or one year from your current expiration date, whichever is later.

How do I register?

Register online now.

To register by fax or mail, print the desired form below, then fax or mail it according to the instructions on the form.

How do I register a group?

When registering on the website, the person logged in must be the person registering.

To register a group of people:

  • Fax or mail the registration forms (above) according to the instructions on the form
  • Contact the Customer Service Center or call 1.508.743.8506.

Please note that group registration is not available online.

What types of payment may I use when registering?

You must pay for online registration by credit card. We accept Visa, MasterCard, or American Express.

For registration by fax or mail, we also accept checks (in U.S. dollars, drawn on a U.S. correspondent bank), or wire transfers. Wire transfers can be made according to the instructions on the registration form.

Purchase orders are not accepted.

Can I register at the convention center?

Yes, you can register onsite. You will need to bring full payment and a government issued photo ID. However, we strongly encourage pre-registration. When you pre-register it will help you:

  • Reduce the time you spend in lines. Some attendees have waited up to 2 hours to register on-site.
  • Secure a seat in ticketed sessions (which are open to Conference registrants only). Please be aware that many sessions sell out in advance.

Where can I plan my itinerary for the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting?

There are two easy ways to plan your itinerary at the meeting.

  1. Use this handy session search tool to explore all of the scientific sessions available at this year’s conference and plan your schedule. Tickets are not required unless you want to attend a Brown Bag or AACC University session. New this year, only these ticketed sessions will be selectable when you register.

  2. The AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo mobile app allows you to build your meeting itinerary, search for sessions and speakers, find exhibitors by product and/or keywords, locate auxiliary meetings and industry workshops, and add personal meetings to your schedule.

The app will be available for download for Apple and Android users this summer.

Are there networking or other activities at the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting?

Numerous auxiliary meetings take place during the week of the conference that are held by AACC Divisions and Local Sections, partnering organizations, educational entities, and international working groups.

AACC and its official entities also hold several special events over the course of the meeting, including the AACC Community Opening Mixer, the Society for Young Clinical Laboratorians Mixer, the Critical and Point-of-Care Testing Afterglow, and Division Joint Mixers. More information to come soon on these special events.

BADGES

Will badges be mailed?

Badges will not be mailed in advance.

Where do I pick up my badge?

You may pick up your badge in the registration area of the convention center. There will be signs to direct you to the correct registration area.

What do I need to bring to pick up my badge?

All registrants must show a government-issued photo ID to pick up their badges.

Each registrant must pick up his/her own badge; representatives of groups cannot pick up all the badges for that group.

It is helpful if you also bring your confirmation letter or have your confirmation email available on your mobile device.

CHANGING AN EXISTING REGISTRATION

How do I add sessions to my existing Conference registration?

Most sessions are included in your full conference registration. See the registration chart above. Only ticketed sessions require advance purchase.

You can add ticketed sessions online.

You can also print a conference registration form and fax or mail it with your desired new sessions and payment.

How do I change/upgrade my existing registration?

Most changes and upgrades can be done online.

You can also print a registration form and fax or mail it with your desired changes and any required payment.

For the following changes, however, you must make them with the assistance of our Customer Service Center, which can be reached at aacc@xpressreg.net or 1.508.743.8506:
  • Combining an Expo Only and a Daily registration
  • Conference transfers on or before June 15 (See policy below.)

CANCELLATIONS AND REGISTRATION TRANSFERS

If I can't attend, can someone take my place at the AACC Annual Scientific Meeting conference?

If a Conference registrant is unable to attend, the registration may be transferred to another person through June 15.

No Conference registration transfers are permitted after June 15.

If I can't attend, can someone take my place at the Clinical Lab Expo?

No. There are no cancellations, refunds, or transfers of Expo Only registration.

What is the cancellation policy?

Expo Only Registration

There will be no cancellations, refunds, or transfers of Expo Only registration fees.

Conference Registration

All Conference cancellations must be received in writing. Written cancellations received by June 15 will be assessed a $50 processing fee.

If a Conference registrant is unable to attend, the registration may be transferred to another person through June 15. Contact the Customer Service Center for details at aacc@xpressreg.net or 1.508.743.8506.

No refunds or Conference registration transfers will be granted after June 15.

BRINGING GUESTS, SPOUSES, AND CHILDREN

Can I bring a guest?

Guest registration is available only with the purchase of a full Conference registration.

Only one guest is allowed per paid registration.

Guests are not eligible for continuing education credit.

Can I bring my spouse to the Opening Mixer on Sunday?

Yes, as long as your spouse is registered for the full Conference, has a Guest registration, or has a free Sunday Daily registration.

Are children allowed in the convention center?

AACC permits individuals ages 16 and 17 with a photo ID to register for and attend the 69th AACC Annual Scientific Meeting & Clinical Lab Expo, if accompanied by a registered adult. Children under 16, however, are not permitted on the exhibit floor or in the educational sessions at any time.

HOUSING AND TRANSPORTATION

Where can I book a hotel room?

AACC has reserved rooms with special rates for conference attendees at area hotels in San Diego. You can book a room at one of these hotels through AACC’s official housing site. The reservation deadline to book a hotel room is July 5. After July 5, every effort will be made to accommodate your request, subject to hotel availability and rate request.

Is there transportation to the convention center from the hotels?

Yes. AACC provides shuttle bus service from most of the official hotels. Those that do not have shuttle bus service are either within walking distance of the convention center (1 to 3 blocks) or are serviced by a shuttle stop at a nearby hotel.

Is there parking near the convention center?

Yes, on-site private vehicle parking is available at the 1,950-vehicle underground garage located below the San Diego Convention Center. Directly across the street from the center, on the corner of Harbor and 8th Ave., is a 2,000-space parking structure. Off-site parking is also available at numerous nearby parking lots and garages in downtown San Diego, many of which are within walking distance of the convention center.

Is there transportation to the convention center from the airport?

AACC does not provide transportation from the convention center to the airport. Taxi cabs are available.
