WASHINGTON – AACC, a global scientific and medical professional organization dedicated to better health through laboratory medicine, is seeking applications for editor-in-chief of a new journal: The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine: An AACC Publication. Set to launch in 2016, this international, peer-reviewed publication will showcase applied research on clinically relevant laboratory topics as well as commentary on the practice of clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine.
Laboratory medicine professionals play an essential role on healthcare teams by providing vital guidance so patients get the care they need. With The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine, AACC aims to help lab professionals find better, faster, and more precise answers to patient health problems and to drive innovation in the field. In addition to focusing on applied laboratory medicine studies, the new journal will consider for publication submissions on laboratory methods, management, best practices, and appropriate test utilization. It will also provide a forum for discussion of policy and regulatory issues that impact the field.
The editor-in-chief of The Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine will play an integral role in launching and establishing the new journal, and will work with AACC staff to prepare for the debut of the first issue in 2016. The incoming editor will serve a 5-year term from January 2016 through December 2020.
Candidates for editor-in-chief should be members of AACC in good standing, with a current academic appointment in laboratory medicine; have broad and in-depth knowledge of the field, its leadership, current trends, and advancements; and substantial experience in writing, editing, and reviewing scientific articles.
