Meet the 2007 winner of the PMF Division award!-- Dr. Steven Soldin
Dr. Soldin is the recipient of the 2007 Pediatric and Maternal-Fetal Division award for outstanding contributions to Pediatric and Maternal-Fetal Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Soldin is the director of the Bioanalytical Core Laboratory at Georgetown Clinical Research Center, and Professor of the Departments of Endocrinology and Pharmacology at Georgetown University. He also serves as director of the Clinical Chemistry department of Laboratory Medicine and Professor of the Departments of Pediatrics and Pathology at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC.
An the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) member since 1975 he holds credentials as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Clinical Biochemists, and a Fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, and is a past chair of the NACB board of directors. He has been the recipient of the Capitol Section’s Roe, Reiner and Past President’s awards. He was one of the founding members of the International Association of Pediatric Laboratory Medicine, and has moderated several symposiums at its International Meetings across the globe.
Dr. Soldin’s scientific and academic activity has been prolific-having published over 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Much of his professional research and output has dealt with special issues surrounding pediatric laboratory medicine. He is interested in the challenges of transplantation in children and specializes in therapeutic drug monitoring of immunosuppressive drugs. Of course, we all know of Dr. Soldin’s textbook “Pediatric Reference Ranges”, a primary source for pediatric laboratory professionals throughout the world.
