2011 Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievements by a Young Investigator
Dr. Baudhuin is assistant professor of laboratory medicine and pathology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Rochester, Minn. She is co-director of the nucleotide polymorphism laboratory and of cardiovascular laboratory medicine and holds a joint appointment in the department of medical genetics. Dr. Baudhuin received her doctorate in clinical chemistry from Cleveland State University, where her doctoral research at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation focused on the roles of bioactive lysolipids in ovarian and breast cancer. As a fellow in clinical chemistry and clinical molecular genetics at the Mayo Clinic, her research expanded to include lipoprotein analysis and genetic characterization and diagnostics of hereditary colorectal cancer. Currently, her research and clinical laboratory interests are focused on molecular genetic testing for cardiovascular-related genetic disease, molecular markers for cardiovascular disease, and pharmacogenetics. Dr. Baudhuin has received several awards, including the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry George Grannis Award for Excellence in Research and Scientific Publication, the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Sciences Distinguished Author Award, the Richard Marshall Education Award, the Cleveland Clinic Graduate Student Research Award, and the Young Investigator in Breast Cancer Research Award (Cleveland Clinic). She has authored 33 peer-reviewed manuscripts, numerous abstracts, and several book chapters. An active the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) member, she is the immediate past-chair of the Midwest Section and currently serves as treasurer and newsletter editor of the Molecular Pathology Division.
