Albert Dietz, PhD

1983 Outstanding Contributions through Service to Clinical Chemistry as a Profession

Albert A. Dietz will be posthumously awarded the 18th the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) Award for Outstanding Contributions through Service to Clinical Chemistry as a Profession. This award is sponsored by the Fisher Scientific Company.

Dr. Dietz’s death on August 16, 1982, of a stroke, was a great personal and professional loss to the Association. He joined the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) in 1950, beginning a long record of devoted service that culminated in his election as president in 1979.

His many accomplishments and his professional history are detailed in an obituary (q.v.) that appeared in Clinical Chemistry (28: 2191, 1982). Suffice it to say in the present connection that his record of service during his career included 10 different functions with the local sections of the American Chemical Society; 10 with the Chicago Section, ADLM, 15 with the national ADLM; and one with the AAAS.
