Northeast Local Section Awards

The Board of the Northeast Section has approved on its meeting dated Feb 20, 2014 three new awards (In addition to Dr. Eugene Rogers Travel Award). These awards are intended to recognize the Northeast Section member's achievements and service to the the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (ADLM) Northeast Section. These awards are given every year at the end of the educational activity season meeting usually conducted in May. The awardee will receive a plaque with his/her name printed and the title of the given award. The following are the descriptions of the NEADLM awards:

Dr. Eugene Rogers Travel Award

Candidates for this award are chosen from the participants of the annual poster session. This award is open to individuals from Academia and Industry, who are currently permanently residing or working in one of the NEADLM member states or provinces. A three-member committee will judge the quality of the posters and the talent of the participants to explain their work. The committee will make the announcement of the winner at the poster venue on the same day of the competition and the award given during the May section meeting. The call for abstracts for the annual November poster session will be announced every year during the May meeting.

Criteria: This award consists of an engraved plaque and a personal memento. The awardee will be reimbursed for $500 of expenses associated with attendance at the ADLM annual meeting following receipt of the award. The criteria are as follows:

Award Criteria:

  • Participant must be a member of the Northeast Section of ADLM.
  • Contestant should be a student or a postdoctoral/medical fellow in one of the section states.
  • Contestant should present their poster in person and be available to answer judges' questions

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION FOR CLINICAL CHEMISTRY NORTHEAST SECTION EARLY-MID CAREER CLINICAL CHEMISTRY INVESTIGATOR AWARD.

To be awarded to one individual who has contributed to research in the field of clinical chemistry. The award consists of $500, an engraved plaque and a personal memento.

Award Criteria:

  • Nominees must be nominated by at least two members of the Northeast Section of ADLM, providing separate written letters of support stating the reasons for the nomination.
  • The nominee can be a fellow, an early career or mid-career faculty member. The awardee should be someone who has been involved in the career field of laboratory medicine as an investigator for no more than 25 years after receiving the highest degree and a member of the NEADLM section.
  • Nominee must be residing and work in one of the section states or provinces.
  • Nominees must have contributed a significant body of work that has a potential scientific impact on the profession.
  • Nomination for this award should be received by annually by February 28. The name of the Awardee will be announced by March 15.

American Association for Clinical Chemistry, Northeast Section Award for Outstanding Service.

Criteria: To be awarded to one individual per year who has served the NEADLM and has
contributed a significant service to the Northeast Section of ADLM. This award is open to
individuals from Academia and Industry, who are currently permanently residing or working in one of the NEADLM member states or provinces. The award consists of an engraved plaque and a personal memento given by the Northeast Section of ADLM.

Award Criteria:

  • Nominees must be nominated by at least two members of the Northeast Section of
  • ADLM, providing separate written letters of support stating the reasons for the nomination.
  • Nominees must be a full member of the Northeast Section of ADLM for at least three years.
  • Nominees must have contributed to the advancement of the section and supported the section efforts and activities over the years.
  • Nomination for this award should be received annually by February 28 .The name of the Awardee will be announced by March 15.

Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine (formerly AACC) Northeast Section Award for Excellent Scholarship Contribution to Education or/and Research of Clinical Chemistry

Criteria: To be awarded to one individual who has contributed significantly to education and/or research in the field of clinical chemistry. This individual can be a clinician/researcher and/or educator from an academic research institute currently permanently residing or working in the NEADLM region. The award consists of an engraved plaque and a personal memento.

Award Criteria:

  • Nominees must be nominated by at least two members of the Northeast Section of ADLM, providing separate written letters of support stating the reasons for the nomination.
  • Nominees must have been a full member of the Northeast Section of ADLM for at least three years.
  • Nominees must have contributed a significant body of work throughout their career that has had a scientific impact on the profession.
  • Nomination for this award should be received annually by February 28. The name of the Awardee will be announced by March 15.
  • The Awardee must be willing to deliver a presentation summarizing his/her work on the day of the award (May Seminar).

Board Notes:

Nomination for the awards should be completed by February 28 of every year and the awardees should be notified by March 15 so that they can prepare for the reception (during the May seminar)

The Board can establish and nominate a selection committee to review applications and make determination of the winners.

As soon as the Board notifies the winners, and they accept their selection, the Program Chair can order the plaques and announce the winners to our members.
