Ascensia Diabetes Care has received Health Canada approval for the Contour Next One blood glucose monitoring system. The system in-cludes the Contour Next One glucose meter, which links to the Contour Diabetes smartphone app via Bluetooth. In turn, the app collects, stores, and analyzes patient blood glucose readings from the meter. The app combines these with other data entered by patients to help them understand how their daily activities affect their blood glucose results—including critical high or critical low readings. Patients can also share their blood glucose measurements and patterns with healthcare professionals to help support management plans. Studies have demonstrated that the Contour Next One is one of the most accurate systems provided by Ascensia Diabetes Care to date. Canadian industry standards for blood glucose meters allow an acceptable error range of 15% from lab readings, while the Contour Next One meter provides results within 8.4% of a lab reading.
