After completing his PhD in Bioorganic Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Lo entered into a clinical chemistry fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis. He joined the Department of Pathology in 1997 and is currently Associate Professor of Pathology and Associate Director of Clinical Laboratories at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin. Since 1997, in addition to maintaining and developing the clinical chemistry laboratory services, he has established testing programs for point of care testing, and biochemical genetics.

Dr. Lo is active in the Clinical Chemistry Fellowship Program and other educational activities at MCW. His research involves improving methods and standards for clinical laboratory testing, with a specific interest in improving testing for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia and other pediatric related issues. Dr. Lo is also actively involved with several professional organizations including the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, the National Academy of Clinical Biochemists, the College of American Pathologists and the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute.
