George Cembrowski, MD., Ph.D. is currently the Director of Medicinal Biochemistry of the Regional Laboratories for the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. Dr. Cembrowski is a Diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry as well as a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, and the College of American Pathologists. Dr. Cembrowski’s education in laboratory medicine began at the University of Wisconsin, Madison following his Bachelors of Science in Chemistry at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Alberta. Following the completion of his Ph.D. studies in Clinical Laboratory Science in Madison, Dr. Cembrowski hadn’t yet attained his fill of education and subsequently enrolled in medical school at the University of Calgary.
Upon graduation from medical school, Dr. Cembrowski returned to Madison for his pathology residency and fellowship in clinical pathology/clinical chemistry. Following his residency and fellowship Dr. Cembrowski has held positions at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Minnesota before his transition back to Alberta.
Throughout his career Dr. Cembrowski has focused on various aspects of clinical pathology including quality control and quality improvement, biological and analytical variation, information systems and laboratory automation. These interests are evident in the various committees that Dr. Cembrowski has served on throughout his career including various committee appointments with the CAP and the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards.
