Randolph M. Young, M.S, Ph.D
Randolph M. Young, M.S, Ph.D, is currently Vice President of Operations/Quality Assurance for Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp) and Director of Special Chemistry at the Powell Lab Center for Esoteric Testing (CET) in Burlington, North Carolina. He also oversees LabCorp's national standardization program in the areas of Special Chemistry and Quality Control for the LabCorp system.
Dr. Young has been an active member of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) at both the regional and national levels. He is currently a member of the North Carolina local section of AACC, having served as chairman of the Ohio Valley local section. He has also served on the Management Sciences Division executive committee at the AACC national level. Additionally, Dr. Young has been a national lecturer for the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) and has given numerous workshops on quality control and laboratory testing.
Dr. Young earned his B.A. degree in Professional Chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry from Cleveland State University. He completed advanced training in clinical laboratory medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation where he was awarded a Cleveland Clinic Fellowship, in addition, he conducted research on lipoproteins and coronary artery disease at the Cleveland Metropolitan General Hospital.
Prior to his current position, Dr. Young served various positions within LabCorp, including a divisional head of the Hospital and Physician Office Lab Management program, Laboratory Director of the Columbus, Ohio regional laboratory, Laboratory Director of the Burlington, North Carolina Core Laboratory and Immunoassay departments, as well as the National Director of Quality Assurance for the company.
