John F. Chapman, Dr.P.H., DABCC, NRCC, FACB

John F. Chapman, Dr.P.H., DABCC, NRCC, FACB is Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, NC and Associate Director of Core/Clinical Chemistry Laboratories and Director of Point-of-Care Testing for UNC Healthcare. He earned a B.A. in microbiology from San Jose State College in 1968, an M.S. in Healthy Science from the California State University at Fresno in 1972 and an M.P.H and Dr. P.H. in Laboratory Practice from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1978. In 1980, after completing a fellowship in Clinical Chemistry (COMACC) at The North Carolina Memorial Hospital, he joined the faculty in the Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

He is board certified in clinical chemistry (ABCC and NRCC) and a fellow in the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry (NACB).  Dr. Chapman received seven Outstanding Speaker awards from the AACC and three Excellence in Teaching Pathology Residents Awards from the UNC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.  He has been a continuous member of AACC since 1979 where he has held local section offices and served on various task forces, management groups and committees at the national level. In addition, he has served as President of ABCC, Vice President of COMACC and is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the NRCC.
