Dr. Hammett-Stabler is Associate Professor of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. She is also the Associate Director of the Core Laboratory, McLendon Clinical Laboratories at UNC Hospitals, where she serves as the director of the Toxicology, Clinical Pharmacology, Special Chemistry, and Pediatric Metabolism Laboratories. Dr. Hammett-Stabler is certified with both the NRCC and the ABCC.
Dr. Hammett-Stabler completed her BA from Rollins College, where she majored in chemistry. This was followed by an MSc from the University of Florida in pathology and a PhD from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in experimental pathology. Following her PhD, Dr. Hammett-Stabler went on to obtain forensic experience at the US Air Force Drug Testing Lab in San Antonio. After working at the University of Florida for a few years, Dr. Hammett-Stabler made her way to UNC.
