July 2007 Mentor of the Month: Mary Lou Gantzer
Mary Lou Gantzer, PhD

Mary Lou Gantzer, PhD, is the director of clinical and scientific affairs in the Chemistry/Immunochemistry Group of Dade Behring (Newark, DE).  She has served the AACC in a variety of capacities in local sections, in divisions, and at the national level.  As a member of the House of Delegates, she served on the Long-Range Planning Committee for 5 years, including 2 years as the chair.  She served on the 1992, 1996, and 1998 annual meeting organizing committees (chair of the committee in 1998), on the editorial board of Clinical Laboratory News, and as chair of the Membership Committee.  Her highly successful tenure as president was marked by a particular focus on addressing the shortage of clinical laboratory personnel. Outside of AACC, Dr. Gantzer is a member of the Society of Chest Pain Centers and Providers, a member of the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards Subcommittee on Outcomes Research, and a member of the National Association of Female Executives
