General Information
AACC helps SYCL members in the US participate in its Annual Meeting by awarding SYCL Domestic Travel Grants. These need-based grants give preference to applicants who submit oral or written posters for presentation. SYCL Domestic Travel Grant winners receive a cash award of $2,000.
Funded by AACC's Van Slyke Foundation, the 2009 SYCL Domestic Travel Grants were made possible, in part, by donations from BD Diagnostics – Preanalytical Systems, Iris International, Inc., Dr. Dan Farkas and the Chicago and Southern CA Local Sections.
The criteria for the SYCL Travel Grants are as follows:
- Applicant must be using funds for domestic travel only;
- Applicant must meet the criteria for SYCL membership (under the age of 40 or a student member of AACC);
- Impact on the applicant’s career in laboratory medicine;
- Financial need to attend; and
- Applicant’s potential impact on the meeting (preference will be given to those presenting posters).
- Previous SYCL Domestic Travel Grant winners are not eligible to apply again.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit letters containing the following information:
- A statement of financial need to attend the meeting;
- If applicable, applicant must include a copy of a submitted abstract;
- Applicant must submit one letter of support from a colleague or mentor
- Applicant must provide all contact information, such as, address, email, phone and fax numbers;
- Applicant's CV or resume.
